There are professional milestones, and then there are the moments that mean something more. For Bhavani Hogarty, CEO of Pardoes Solicitors, being one of the founding organisers of Buckham Fair sits firmly in the second category.

"One of the proudest things I've ever done in my entire life," she says - and when you hear Bhavani talk about Buckham Fair, it's easy to understand why.

What started as a local fundraiser drawing 500 people has grown into one of the South West’s most-loved family events. Heavy horses, dogs, independent local trade stalls, delicious food stands, live music and a genuine festival atmosphere. 

Over the years, Buckham Fair has raised nearly a million pounds for charities across the region. When Buckham Fair last ran in 2018, around 10,000 people came through the gates.

This year, it's back. And the response has been extraordinary.

Within a single evening of the announcement going live, the event page had received 45,000 hits. Bhavani admits she's "incredibly nervous" about what this year might bring - but that's the kind of nervous that comes with something worth doing. This year, all funds raised will go towards the new critical care and emergency unit at Dorset County Hospital, a cause close to many hearts in our community.

Bhavani, who is part of the planning committee working hard to bring this year's event together, sums it up perfectly:

"Buckham Fair is such a special event. It brings the community together in the best possible way. The committee has worked incredibly hard this year and I can't wait for everyone to see what we've put together. Come along, support a wonderful cause and enjoy a brilliant day out."
