Pardoes to sponsor Buckham Fair

Pardoes are excited to be the headline sponsor of Buckham Fair which this year takes place on Sunday 19 August in Beaminster, Dorset DT8 3SH.

The fair, which began in 2008 plays host to a whole range of community based activities including horse, pony and dog shows as well as vintage cars,  scooters and of course the scrumptious Food Court with its colourful array of traders including; the likes of River Cottage, the Riverside restaurant in West Bay among other gourmet establishments. There will also be a heavy horse village and for the first time there will be a fantastic artisan’s village showcasing some fabulous arts and crafts. Not to mention the varied and fascinating stalls from antiques to natural beauty products and the traditional fair ground rides – a helter skelter, carousel and dodgems and don’t forget the Piddle Beer Tent!

Since conception, the fair has raised over £70,000 for local charities with last year raising a whopping £34,500 for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. This year funds will go to Julia’s House, a children’s hospice in Dorset. The Buckham Fair committee is hoping to at least match last year’s fantastic figure for a charity which desperately needs some financial help. Julia’s House was founded by Julia Perks, a paediatric nurse, with a vision to provide care and support to children with life limiting illnesses and their families. With costs going up the hospice has had to make hard decisions and has had to reduce opening hours so it really is a case of ‘every little helps’.
