Pardoes team complete Great North Run for charity

24 March, 2010

A group of motivated individuals from Pardoes Solicitors successfully completed the Great North Run on behalf of the Bridgwater based Brain Institute for Brain Injured Children (BIBIC) last week.

Three female members of the Pardoes team took part. – Anusheh Ahmadi, Sarah Driscoll and Naomi Hoare who are based across the firms Bridgwater, Yeovil and Taunton offices. In excess of £1,000.00 was raised for BIBIC and the sponsorship is still rolling in. It was the first time any of them had taken part in the Great North Run and for Naomi and Anusheh is was their first ever half marathon event.

When the team signed up for the Run back in January, each member pledged to train hard in order to increase their levels of fitness in anticipation of the race. ‘We were hoping that we would find time over the summer to build up our levels of fitness and stamina in preparation for the race but unfortunately as is the case with most best laid plans most of us simply did not find the time!’

Naomi sustained a knee injury during the early part of the race and she and Anusheh were forced to make a stop off at the Red Cross Tent mid-way through the Run, this coupled with a torrential downpour during the latter part of the race made the going particularly tough. Despite the odds, all of the team completed the 13.1 mile course in respectable times with Sarah crossing the finishing line in just 2 hours and 12 minutes!

The team was joined by Stuart Keegan and Ewan MacLarty who kindly stepped when two members of Team Pardoes were forced to pull out of the race over the summer due to injury.

The enthusiastic team were so enthused by the experience that they have now signed up for the Bath Half Marathon which takes place in March.
