Hospital Acquired Infections

If you are unfortunate enough to be taken into hospital, at the very least you expect to stay in a clean and sterile environment and somewhere which is designed to ensure your safety and care. Sadly this is often not the case. Infections such as MRSA and C Difficile are now widespread in most UK hospitals, and caused by cleanliness problems in hospitals and poor infection control.

Delay in diagnosis of a hospital acquired infection can often lead to deterioration in a patient's health or even death.

Common types of hospital acquired infections:
  • Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (more commonly known as MRSA)
  • C Difficile (clostridium difficile)
  • Bacterial infections such as E coli and klebsiella

To prove a claim for medical negligence the person claiming must be able to show that the source of the infection arose in the hospital and that there had been a failure to treat it adequately or at all.
