While you do not need to be formally qualified, you must be able to independently manage your own caseload and demonstrate a high level of technical ability and empathy.

You will also play a key role in building and maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the growth of the department. If you have experience or interest in mentoring less experienced colleagues, this would be a valuable asset, but it’s not essential. Are you ready to embark on a rewarding career journey? Purely Probate, a sister company of Pardoes Solicitors, invites applications for the position of Legal Executive or Solicitor to join our dynamic Private Client team.

This role can be based in either our Yeovil, or Taunton office. Join us and be part of a forward-thinking Somerset law firm with a reputation for being a fantastic workplace.

As a Legal Executive or Solicitor in our Private Client team, you'll manage a mixed caseload that includes Wills, Probate, and Lasting Powers of Attorney. Your responsibilities will include:

• Demonstrating excellent organisational and time management skills

• Interacting professionally with clients and colleagues

• Handling complex matters with ease and efficiency

• Utilising technology adeptly


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, networking and client facing skills alongside an enviable experience of dealing with both day to day and complex cases including Wills and LPAs, both taxable and non-taxable Estates. Experience in trust matters, and Court of Protection matters would also be beneficial but is not essential.

It would be advantageous if applicants were accredited with Solicitors for the Elderly or

members of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners). The firm would support training

at regular intervals to keep abreast of private client developments.

You will be self supportive, undertaking the majority of your own administration with some support provided locally or remotely as appropriate. It goes without saying client awareness is essential whilst consistently delivering a first-class service.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a busy Private Client fee earning role with an

ability to work autonomously as required to get the job done. Applicants who have practice of participating in the development of a department and using marketing and networking to achieve this are also desirable.

This role may require occasional travel to our various offices across Somerset and parts of

Dorset, therefore the successful applicant will also be a vehicle owner and hold a full driving licence.

We are seeking an experienced Private Client professional to join our team as Deputy Head of Private Client. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Head of Department, assisting in the management and development of the team while handling a caseload of complex Private Client matters.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Head of Department in managing the Private Client team, including supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
  • Handle a varied caseload, including Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, Probate, LPAs, and Court of Protection matters.
  • Assist with business development, marketing initiatives, and client relationship management to grow the department.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and professional standards.
  • Identify training needs within the team and contribute to their development.

Work collaboratively with other departments to provide holistic legal services to clients.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. While this is a full-time position, we may consider applications from candidates seeking part-time employment. This role will require occasional travel to our various offices across Somerset and parts of Dorset.

The ideal candidate will embody our values of friendliness, humility, and empathy. We're looking for someone who has:

  • Significant experience in Private Client work, including Wills, Trusts, Probate, and Tax Planning.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
  • Strong client management and business development skills.
  • A proactive and hands-on approach to leadership.
  • STEP membership (or working towards) would be an advantage.
  • Holds a full UK driving license and owns a vehicle

Through growth and team movement, we are currently seeking two experienced Residential Conveyancers (PQE of 2yrs min) to join our thriving Residential Conveyancing team.

As a senior member of our team, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload, supporting clients through the entire conveyancing process. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate their expertise as a fee earner, while also building and maintaining strong relationships with clients. Your ability to network and grow your own client base will be vital to your success in this role.

You may also be involved in training, mentoring and developing our less experienced team members and trainees, so experience, or an interest in this would be beneficial but not essential. We are also interested to hear from candidates who have experience in agriculture.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a dedicated Legal Assistant, contributing to the continued success of the team. Candidates would need to be based in our Bridgwater or Yeovil office, on a hybrid working arrangement.
