Lasting Powers of Attorney

Everyone should have an Lasting Power of Attorney.  Age does not matter.  If you are badly injured in an accident or become mentally ill an enduring power of attorney will enable you to appoint one or more people you trust to deal with your financial affairs.  If you do not do this before you become ill or infirm, the Court of Protection will have to become involved which can result in unnecessary expenses and sometimes upset for your family.

Many people use an Lasting Power of Attorney to allow a trusted member of the family or a friend to deal with the daily running of their finances when they find it physically challenging to go out.

It is a good idea to set up an Lasting Power of Attorney at the same time that you prepare your Will.
