Legally Speaking

Previously finding myself amidst a divorce, encapsulating matrimonial finances and to complete the set child arrangements proceedings is a little of a busman’s holiday, to say the very least as a Family Lawyer.  Although having the legal experience and knowledge of family law to ready myself for the journey ahead, nothing could have prepared me for the emotional turmoil which I forewarn my clients about when they initially approach me for legal assistance.  ‘It is like riding a rollercoaster’, I tell them, ‘Buckle yourself in and be prepared for the inclines, descents, sharp curves and sudden changes of speed and direction’… Oh boy, how very true I found my own words of advice to be!

Having experienced everything on the other side of the fence, including issues relating to domestic abuse, Non-Molestation, Prohibited Steps and Occupation Orders, as surreal as it felt, (and still does at times), when looking back, I can say with all honestly it has made me a better, more compassionate person, stronger and more resilient but above all a better lawyer who can deliver a more personal touch to clients experiencing one of the most traumatic times of their lives and something I completely empathise with.

They say that divorce and the breakdown of a marriage/relationship is one of the most stressful things anyone can endure, akin to death and moving home too….and my word, whoever ‘they’ are, have the analogy spot on.

Of course, having been a Family Lawyer for the latter 13 years has not just entailed matters of acrimonious dispute, I do also get to deal with happier times such as forthcoming marriages providing Pre and Post Nuptial Agreements and of course, couples setting up home together with Cohabitation Agreements; all crucial to the financial security of your future and to which legal advice is highly recommended.

With my 13 plus years of experience, no family legal matter is too small or too great, and which I firmly believe being able to draw upon my own experiences provides a more personal approach.
