Lasting Powers of Attorney

A Lasting Power of Attorney is where you legally appoint somebody to deal with your financial affairs, should you become mentally unable to manage them yourself.

Age does not matter, as everyone should have one. This is because if you become ill or injured, the Court of Protection will have to become involved, which can result in unnecessary expenses and sometimes upset for your family.

You can also use a Lasting Power of Attorney to allow a trusted member
of your family or a friend to deal with the daily running of your finances.
This would be, for example, if you found it physically challenging to go out.

It is a good idea to set up a Lasting Power of Attorney at the same time that you prepare your will.
