James studied law at Plymouth and Oxford before embarking on a career specialising in complex clinical negligence work in Bristol. Returning to his roots in North Devon he now works principally from our Taunton office, heading up clinical negligence there.

His work covers all areas of clinical negligence with a particular emphasis on the most serious and complex injuries. In recent years James has recovered far in excess of one million pounds for clients injured as a consequence of medical accidents. In addition, he has experience of multi-party litigation having been involved in both the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Alder Hey litigations.

James' extensive experience and specialist knowledge was acknowledged in 2008 when he became a member of the Law Society's Clinical Negligence Panel.

A country boy at heart, James spends his spare time messing around on the farm or playing tennis and rugby.
